MCG Energy’s 2024 Software User Conference was held  October 10-11 at the stunning Westin Westminster, strategically located between Boulder and Denver. With a picturesque view of Colorado’s majestic Rocky Mountains this was an ideal venue for our users to network, learn, and enjoy themselves. MCG Energy introduced a brand-new format for this year’s user conference! We revamped our breakout sessions to enhance opportunities for user interaction, allowing you to connect with each other and engage directly with our Product Managers and Energy Product Analysts. With emphasis on this new format and to enhance networking experiences this year’s conference was fully in person.

We live with an immensity of change in the world and in our industry. Keynote speaker Dr. Scott A. Smitson spoke on the Geopolitics of Energy suggesting mental models and actionable insights that can be applied to each of our daily work lives.

Dr. Smitson is a renowned strategist, global futures forecaster, political scientist, and educator. He is the founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Geopolitics, Incorporated, where he advises investors and private sector decision-makers on the impact of geopolitics on risks and opportunities in foreign and domestic markets, particularly at the intersection of energy, finance, and international security. He holds a Joint PhD in Political Science and Public Policy from Indiana University’s School of Environmental and Public Affairs (SPEA). His publications include The Road to Good Intentions: British Nation-Building in Aden, An American in Her Majesty’s Ministry of Defence, Solving America’s Gray-Zone Puzzle, and The Compound Security Dilemma: Threats at the Nexus of War and Peace. His writings and podcasts on the geopolitics of commodities can be found on geopoliticsinc.com, where he leads geopolitical commentary and analysis. We are honored to have Dr. Smitson join us!

We hosted the 2023 MCG Energy Users Conference in-person at the beautiful Embassy Suites San Antonio Riverwalk Downtown in San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 17^th and 18^th. We are grateful to have shared this day and a half event with you.

The conference brought together users of MCG Energy’s products from across the U.S. and Canada. This fully independent and member-driven group met, discussed, and provided feedback and direction on the day-to-day operation and future of their MCG applications. They also learned how other organizations in the energy industry are addressing business challenges.

Attendees also enjoyed the many things to explore and do in San Antonio.
